September 17, 2005

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

Your safety and security are of prime concern at the University of New Mexico Gallup Campus. Every year the UNM Gallup Police Department publishes a Safety & Security report containing crime statistics and information about UNM policies and programs related to safety and law enforcement.

The report on Safety and Security 2005-2006 is now available. The report can be accessed on the Internet at www.Gallup.unm.edu/aboutus/services/police/letter. You may also request a copy of the report at the UNM Gallup Police Department, Calvin Hall #228 or The Student Services Office, 200 College Drive, Gallup, NM.

It is a requirement to inform the campus of where law enforcement agency information about registered sex offenders can be obtained. The New Mexico Department of Public Safety maintains a website with the reqired information. The address is http://www.nmsexoffender.dps.state.nm.us/. The report should direct readers to that website.

The table below shows statistics for on-campus crimes in 2005 reported to the UNM Gallup Police Department. The full report contains additional statistics for 2005, as well as statistics for 2004 and 2003. In addition the full report contains information about crime prevention programs at UNM Gallup; how to report criminal activity; campus sexual assault policy, drug and alcohol policy, and weapons policy.

View the Report for 2005

To view the Reports for 2003 and 2004 go back to the main section of UNM Gallup campus police and click "Reports". This will take you to a page listing the crime statistics for 2004 and 2005.

The UNM Gallup Police Department is working hard to make the campus a safe place to live, work and play. We believe that the information in the Safety & Security 2005-2006 report is informative and helpful and we hope you will take the time to review it.

Sincerely,
Lt. James A. Madrid
