My Name is Nicole, and I am Zuni and San Felipe. I live in Zuni, New Mexico with my mother and grandmother. I am in the Nursing Program at the University of New Mexico-Gallup campus in my third semester with one more semester to go to complete my Associate’s degree. I am also a member of the Student Nurse’s Association here at the Gallup campus. My goals are to complete my Associate’s degree in Nursing and pass my boards to become a Registered Nurse. After receiving my Associate’s degree, I plan on building up my career as an OB registered nurse at one of the Indian Health Services hospitals in New Mexico. I plan on going back to school for my Bachelor’s degree to become a Director of Nurses within 5 years. Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity. This means a lot to me, and I greatly appreciate this award. With this award it will enable me to concentrate more on my studies instead of worrying about financial problems. With the financial support, I would not have to worry about trying to get enough money to commute to and from class. Thank you again for this generous scholarship. Sincerely, Nicole |
Getting this unexpected scholarship ensures that I will be able to pay my bills. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do until my next financial aid check came. It really helps because I try not to work while I go to school so I can focus on my studies to become an excellent nurse – I believe my patients deserve this – so you’ve given them a gift by helping me. I don't have a car, so I catch a ride into Gallup from Zuni with my Uncle, and I like to pay my share of gas, but sometimes it’s hard because I’m on a limited budget. So your scholarship was very helpful to me and the timing was perfect. I was very surprised and am grateful. Thank you SO, SO MUCH! -- Your friend, Christy |
