List of CNA Skills for N115 (NURSING FUNDAMENTALS)

Students selected for UNM-G Nursing Program must be able to demonstrate the following skills one week prior to their first day of Nursing School :

  • Temperature, Pulse, Respiration, Blood Pressure
  • Measure height and weight
  • Measure and record intake and output
  • Feed a client
  • Collect urine from an indwelling (Foley) catheter
  • Apply a condom catheter
  • Give a client a bed bath
  • Provide perineal care
  • Help a client with a tub bath and shower
  • Make an occupied bed
  • Make an unoccupied bed
  • Provide oral hygiene
  • Shampoo the client in bed
  • Perform foot and nail care
  • Perform range-of-motion exercises
  • Help the client get out of bed
  • Transfer an immobile client from bed to wheelchair
  • Support the ambulation client
  • Turn and move the client in bed
  • Back Massage
  • Insert a hearing aid
  • Proper hand washing techniques
  • Using a mechanical lift
  • Administering oxygen
  • CPR
  • Care for a client in isolation
  • Donning and removing sterile gloves
  • Dress a simple wound
