What is the NACEP?
NACEP – Nursing Assistant Competency Evaluative Program
NACEP is the New Mexico State Exam to obtain Certification as a Nursing Assistant. If you wish to take this exam you need the following:
#1 – Obtain an unofficial transcript from the Registrar’s Office (proof of passing the training program – HCNA 101/102 and HCNA 101L with a C- or 75% average)
#2 – A Money Order made out to Thomson Prometric for the requested fee:
- A new training graduate - $85.00 (Fee varies for other categories – ask the NACEP coordinator or call Lenette at 863-7514.
- Thomson Prometric phone number is: 1.866.391.1945.
#3 – Obtain an application from the NACEP office in Health Careers Center, Room 126 (HCC 126).

N.B. If you intend to take the Prep Course before taking the exam, all the above is also necessary.
