Department of Arts & Letters
The Arts and Letters Department at UNM-Gallup is dedicated to excellence in education, focusing on developing written and visual communication skills as well as critical thinking skills.
English Placement
Currently, UNM-Gallup uses the computerized Accuplacer exam for placement. This placement test is available free of charge and there is no risk in taking it. Financial aid will fund required developmental course work for up to one year.
Students wishing to enroll in an English course numbered greater than 099, who have not taken college level English are required to take the Accuplacer test and are advised to register for appropriate English courses on the basis of their scores, unless they have ACT/SAT scores available for evaluation.
