Adult Basic Education
The University of New Mexico-Zuni Campus Adult Basic Education Program
- Open entry/open exit adult setting

- Services and material provided free of charge
- Must be 16 years of age or older-(not enrolled in a traditional education program, 16 & 17 years old must complete an underage permisssion form)
- Complete registration and enrollment
- Complete TABE and/or CHOICES Assessments
- Complete Official GED Practice Test (depending on TABE results
ABE Services
Literacy/ESL (English as a Second Language)
Individualized instruction offered assisting students to learn and apply basic reading and writing skills
ABE (Adult Basic Education)
Individualized instruction for students who posess a High School Diploma wanting to improve their Reading, Writing, or Math Skills.
GED (General Education Development)
Individualized instruction in preparation for the New Mexico GED Test. Includes Pre-GED and GED level of study for those individuals seeking a High School Diploma.
UNM Gallup Campus GED Testing Center Registration Requirements
Must have two forms of Identification:
- New Mexico State ID or Drivers License
- Another form of identification verifying a Signature and one of the following: photo, birthdate, or SSN
Examinees must be 16 years of age or older prior to testing. Underage candidates must make an appointment with the GED Chief Examiner to complete an Underage Waiver prior to testing
New examinees must register two days before scheduled test dates. At the time of registration, examinees will complete demographics, sign the State Authorization form and have their I.D.'s and referrals verified.
Notice
All Examinees Must
- Pass a practice test with a score of 50 or higher
- Register for GED Testing & obtain a test referral
- Obtain a UNM Gallup Campus Cashier's receipt for test(s) to be taken
- Be at the test site 15 minutes before scheduled test
- Show two forms of identification
- Adhere to the GED Candidates' Code of Conduct
New Mexico Official GED Complete Battery Examination
The Complete Battery of the General Education Development State Exam consists of five multiple choice tests which measure achievement in subject areas generally assoiciated with a traditional high school program of study. The five tests include the following:
- Language Arts-Writing, Part I & II-Essay
- Social Studies
- Science
- Language Arts-Reading
- Mathematics, Part I & II
- Three chances per year
- Mandatory 60 day waiting period before retesting
- Specific subject matter preparation is highly recommended and strongly encouraged
- Minimum standard score of 410 is required to pass any of the five areas
- Must have an overall score of 2250 cumulative points with an average of 450 points to obtain High School Diploma
