Tribal Scholarships
Native American students who wish to seek financial assistance from their respective tribes must apply for financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students must complete both a financial aid file with UNM's Office of Student Financial Aid and a file with their respective tribal scholarship office. Both processes must be done every school year.
The following documents will be required from most tribal scholarship offices:
- Tribal Higher Education Application
- Tribal Financial Need Analysis (FNA) completed and submitted by the school's financial aid office
- Academic Transcripts
- Letter of Admission for new students. Majority of tribes request an official copy, check with your respective tribal higher education office to be sure.
- Certificate of Indian Blood
- Verification of Enrollment for continuing students

Office of Navajo Nation Scholarship & Financial Assistance (ONNSFA)
The Office of Navajo Nation Scholarship and Financial Assistance Program's purpose is to serve eligible Navajo people and provide them the opportunity to achieve their educational goals. This opportunity is provided as a privilege with the intent that recipients, upon graduation, will return to the Navajo Nation to apply their learning to benefit the continuing development of the Navajo Nation.
Pueblo of Zuni 477 Program
The Mission of 477:
- To provide effective outreach and participant services in caring, efficient and confidential service environment.
- To provide successful advocacy, guidance, and follow-up services to all eligible Zuni and community members in accessing program services, resources and opportunities to reduce barriers to employment, training, education and related services.
- To enable individuals to become self-sufficient and successful through the achievement of their education, employment and training goals.
- To provide sustained employment and reduce joblessness for all eligible participants.

Utah Navajo Trust Fund Scholarship
The Utah Navajo Trust Fund (UNTF) Scholarship and San Juan Endowment Fund provides financial assistance to eligible San Juan County, Utah Navajo students who are in pursuit of a (an):
- One Year Certificate
- Associate of Arts
- Associate of Science
- Bachelor of Science
- Masters
- Doctorate
- Degree from an accredited post-secondary institution, including vocational or technical schools.
Applicants must:
- Have applied for Federal Student Aid (Pell Grant) and turned in Student Aid Report (SAR) to financial aid office.
- Be enrolled and have completed 6 credit hours or more per term, maintaining a 2.9 or higher GPA to remain eligible.

Annie D. Wauneka Scholarship
Annie D. Wauneka Scholarships are awarded to Navajo students who are denied educational funding through the Navajo Nation's Department of High Education. Priority is given to higher level classmen enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university. The maximum award is $1,000.00.
Scholarship Application and Guidelines
Applicant must:
- Must have been denied a scholarship from the Navajo Nation Dept. of Higher Education
- Must be officially admitted for the semester for which you are applying
- Must be registered as a full time student (this requirement may be waived)
- Be a legally enrolled member of the Navajo Nation
- Provide official transcripts
- Provide a financial needs analysis
- Sign a Privacy Act Waiver
- Write an essay on why the Foundation should fund you
- Sign Certification stating you will send a transcript within 15 days after completion of the term for which you received funding.

Hubbell Trading Post Scholarship
Student Qualifications:
- Be an enrolled member of the Navajo or Hopi Nation
- Attending a two or four-year college/university in the four corners region
- Have a declared major or special degree program
- Entering your junior or senior year in Fall
- Or entering the second year of a two-year college program
- Have a 3.0 GPA or better
Your letter of application should include a narrative description of:
- Your degree program
- Your career plans
- How your educational goals relate to the Navajo or Hopi Nation
- A copy of your census card or proof of tribal enrollment
- Your social security number
- Your address while at school and your home address, plus a contact phone number
- Certification of enrollment from your educational institution that indicates your status in school as of the end of the spring semester, and your current GPA.

IHS Scholarships
IHS conducts three interrealated scholarship programs to train professional health personnel necessary to staff IHS health programs serving the Indian people.
Both full and part-time student opportunities are available. The Preparatory scholarship programs do not have an active duty service obligation.

Student Qualifications
- Be an American Indian or Alaska Native (Frederally or State recognized)
- Be a high school graduate or equivalent
- Have the capacity to complete a health professions course of study
- Be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment in a compensatory prepofessional general education course or curriculum, Health Professions Pregraduate baccularueate degree program or in a full or part-time study program leading to a dregree in a health related professions school and be one of the "priority categories" published in the Federal Register
- Be in good standing at the Educational Institution they are attending
- Intend to serve Indian people upon completion of professional health care education and training as a health care provider in the discipline/specialty for which he/she is taking preparatory courses and for which the application is submitted.
The level of scholarship benefits is contingent upon the availability of funds appropriated each fiscal year by the Congress of the United States and, therefore, is subject to yearly changes.
