Cosmetology Club

The UNM Cosmetology Club is open to any UNM Gallup student who is interested in pursuing a career in cosmetology. The club's main purpose is to develop leadership in the industrial, technical and health occupations through participation in educational, civic, vocational and social activities. Auto Technology Club

The Auto Technology Club is open to any currently enrolled students, staff, or faculty of UNM Gallup . The goals of this club are to promote automotive excellence, skill enhancement and to explore and apply the latest technologies for automotive improvement. The club conducts numerous fund raising, technical, recreational and social activities. Also, the club competes in local circuit car shows.

Native American Unity

This club is open to any currently enrolled student's at UNM Gallup. The club is organized to provide cultural, social, and educational programs pertaining to Native American life for UNM Gallup. This club raises money to attend Pow-Wows, organizes traditional food sales and sponsors an annual bone marrow drive. For more information call (505)863-7557.

Student Nursing Club

The Student Nursing Club has the express purpose of providing a means for individuals to help others, to promote student participation, to develop leadership qualities in nursing students, to promote professional registered nursing, and to communicate with nursing faculty. The club is open to all students with an interest in Health Careers. Membership in the New Mexico Student Nurses Association is voluntary and dues are required. Benefits of membership in this organization include eligibility for scholarships, career planning assistance, discounts on specified materials, subscription to malpractice insurance, participation in state and national conventions and involvement in legislation that affects students.

Criminal Justice Club

Each Police Academy class forms a club. The students elect officers, hold regular meetings, and plan activities to accomplish the club goals. The class President becomes the student representative to the Academy Staff. The major goal of each class is participating in the Police Academy graduation each spring. All Criminal Justice students are voting members of the club; all other students are associate members. The major fund raising activity is providing security at on-campus activities. Funds raised by the club provide scholarships for Criminal Justice students, purchase a yearly gift for the UNM Police Academy, as well as provide for the donation of a traditional class plaque. Students interested in participating in a Criminal Justice Club should contact the Director of the UNM Gallup Police Academy.

Students Acting on New Directions (SAND)

The purpose of the club is to allow youth in our community the experience of working together. It also provides interaction with college students who act as mentors and role models for the high school club members. In addition, the students are more aware of their communities, the University community and themselves. The Club has no restrictions on membership (high school or college students). The Club participates in volunteering for community, University and other club activities. The Club sponsors presentations by speakers, community oriented projects, special interest projects, fundraisers, field trips and recreational activities. For more information call (505) 863-7583.

Environmental Club

With expanding human population and demands upon the Earth resources, concerns for the environment become increasingly important. The Environmental Club offers students the opportunity to learn more about Earth issues (at both the local and global levels) and to involve themselves in activities to protect the natural environment.

Rodeo Program

UNM Gallup Rodeo Program is aimed towards full-time and part-time students who wish to participate in the sport of Rodeo at the College level. The Rodeo Program and its members are members of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association and students compete in rodeos within the Grand Canyon Region. The Program stresses to its members the importance of achieving the highest level of education and setting achievable goals while attending UNMG. The program promotes team effort, discipline, hard work, and experience in the field of rodeo and school. Students act in the capacity of ambassadors for the college while participating in college rodeos with the help of Miss UNMG Rodeo Queen. The Rodeo Program consists of a Coach, President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. The Rodeo Program also has Rodeo Scholarships available for its members who achieve an outstanding GPA. The Rodeo Program is under the UNMG Athletic Department.

American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES)

The American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES) is a private, non-profit organization which nurtures the building of community by bridging science and technology with traditional native values. Through its educational programs AISES provides opportunities for American Indians and Alaskan Natives to pursue studies in science, engineering, business and other academic areas. All who might benefit and all who wish to help are welcome.

Service Learning Club

The Service Learning Club (SLC) is an organization designed to engage students at UNMG in rewarding service learning projects. The Club will take a leadership role in support of service learning opportunities. The Club is a point of contact for interaction between academic and service aspects of the college experience. The Club wants students, faculty, and administrators to participate in experiential education activities to meet the needs of students and the larger community. The Club supports student-community interaction by connecting academic instruction with service opportunities through student placement in service learning projects. The Club will provide support and guidance to students interested in pursuing service learning options in their academic and vocational courses. The Club will work directly with students, faculty, administrators and community agencies to support a successful inclusion of service learning in the courses and cultures of this institution.

The Club is a hub for service learning exchange programs between classrooms, schools and communities. Students, faculty and others may come to the Club for information, placement, and support of service learning in the classroom, the community, or wherever a project or placement might occur. The Club will engage in regional and national professional development opportunities in service learning. The Club does not identify with a particular field or discipline, but offers assistance in connecting service learning to all areas of study.
