Student Support Services/TRIO

The Student Support Services/TRIO Program is a federally funded grant program (100% funded by the Department of Education) designed to assist eligible students in overcoming social, academic, and cultural barriers in obtaining a college education. The targeted population for Student Support Services/TRIO, must have an academic need (as defined by the Department of Education) and meet at least one or a combination of the following
- Enrolled or admitted for enrollment
- Low-income
- First- Generation (neither parent has a college degree)
- Disability (physical or learning)
UNM-Gallup's Student Support Services/TRIO Program serves 160 students, allowing for the opportunity to work with students intensely in the areas of tutoring and personal, academic and career advisement. Student Support Services/TRIO staff build personal and professional relationships with students because of the amount of quality one-on-one interaction that is offered. The staff at UNM-Gallup Student Support Services/TRIO Program creates a climate of support for students as they strive to move out of poverty and dependence toward financial freedom and independence.

Where is TRIO located?
Student Support Services/TRIO is located in two areas of Gurley Hall.
Administrative services are located in the CASA Learning Center 2205B and the Student Learning Center (with individual computer labs) is located in Gurley Hall B-215 (basement).
