Amigo Transfer Scholarship

Program Description

The University of New Mexico Amigo Scholarship Program and the Amigo Transfer Scholarship Program entitle outstanding out-of-state students (Non-Residents) to a waiver of non-residential tuition and a cash award of $250 per semester provided a student meets renewal requirements.

Students applying for this scholarship must:

  • Have a combined transfer college grade point average of 3.5 or higher, or
  • Have a combined cumulative transfer college grade point average of 3.25 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) and;
  • Have at least 30 hours of credited transfer hours and;
  • Also meet the High School criteria for the Amigo Scholarship. The residency and renewal requirements specified for freshman apply to transfer students as well.

The scholarship may be renewed annually for up to two years provided the student meets requirements of 24 semester hours each academic year with a GPA of at least 3.0. A student who fails to meet the requirements necessary to renew the scholarship also forfeits the privilege of resident tuition.

Deadlines

For students entering the Fall semester, the deadline is August 15.
For students entering the Spring semester, the deadline is January 10.
