Student Is First to Receive MCHS Diploma, Degree Simultaneously

William Q. Long, son of Calvin and Genice Long of Gallup, is the first student from the University of New Mexico-Gallup’s Middle College High School to earn a high school diploma and a degree from UNM-Gallup simultaneously.
Students enrolled at Middle College High School can take dual credit classes at UNM-Gallup.
Long, who has attended MCHS for five semesters, will participate in commencement activities with his classmates and other UNM-Gallup graduates at Red Rock State Park on May 14, where he will be awarded an Associate of Arts degree. He has made the Dean’s List for two semesters, and has a grade point average of 3.54.
Long plans to pursue a career in medicine.
