MLT graduates have found employment in Indian Health Service hospitals, research laboratories, physician offices, clinics, public health centers, veterinary clinics and industrial laboratories. |
About Medical Laboratory TechnologyMedical Technology is a branch of diagnostic medicine in which professionals with an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree assist the physician in providing aid for the diagnosis and treatment of disease or injury, implementation of health care services, promotion of health and the well-being of patients. Diagnostic medicine involves the use of the most accurate performance of these tests to determine the absence, presence, extent and causes of diseases. |

Faculty The members of the MLT faculty have met the accreditation standards for teaching clinical laboratory science with a Bachelor’s Degree or above, national certification, and bench experience for several years in the clinical departments for courses they teach. |

Facilities The MLT Program utilizes classroom and laboratory space at the UNM-Gallup Campus. Equipment and supplies are available for students to develop necessary analytical skills prior to clinical rotations. The following local and regional hospitals serve as clinical training sites:

The Program
The Associate of Science Degree (A.S.) in Medical Laboratory Technology is structured to address the standards dictated by the National Accreditation Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), an independently recognized accreditation agency.
