Apply for and get accepted into the college: UNM-Gallup (Admissions Department)

• Meet with the Nursing Program Advisor to review your progress in your nursing program CHECKLIST, or even if you're just beginning!

• (You must start the application with a UNM-G nursing advisor! No exceptions!)

• If you have attended another college or university, official transcripts from those schools must be sent to UNM-G, unofficial copies should be included with your application materials. (Where to send transcripts)

• (WHAT TRANSFERS TO UNM-G FROM OTHER SCHOOLS? SCROLL DOWN AT THIS LINK to find your former school(s), then find your class(es) to see if there's a UNM-G equivalent.

• LPNs: An LPN or transfer student who applies for admission to the nursing program must meet the same requirements as any other student applying for admission. Make an appointment to meet with the nursing program advisor or nursing program director to evaluate the previous nursing coursework to determine placement in the program.

Complete all pre-requisite courses with a "C" or better. You may click here for a list of pre-requisites.

Know common nursing assistant skills (What skills you will be expected to demonstrate)

Hold a current American Heart Association CPR card. (Here's a list of AHA CPR classes from our local hospital.)

Get the most current copies of ALL your transcripts. Attach them to your application.

• These must include your most current UNM-G semester from Student Services AND unofficial copies of transcripts from any other colleges you may have attended. (Transcripts from other institutions) A copy of unofficial transcripts must be stapled to your application; official transcripts must be sent to UNM-G Student Services, Address: Office of the Registrar, c/o Student Services, Gurley Hall 1137, UNM-Gallup, 200 College Dr., Gallup, NM 87301.

Obtain and complete a UNM-G Nursing Program application.

• Do not submit your application to the Nursing Department UNLESS:
  1. You have seen the Nursing Program Advisor who is located IN THE NEW NURSING BUILDING. A sign-up sheet is at the reception desk.
  2. You have received the Nursing Program Advisor's signature on the application
  3. You have all the materials on this checklist complete

Submit ALL your application materials at once. This is your ticket to taking the T.E.A.S. test. Only those with complete and cleared application packets will be allowed to take the TEAS Nursing Entrance Exam.

• You are ready to submit them to the Nursing Department's Advisor who is the person you give your completed application to.
• NO INCOMPLETE SUBMISSIONS OR LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED. The due date for applications is always published on this website's homepage, usually you must scroll down toward the bottom of the page to find it; however, it's always there.
• If you are RE-APPLYING, you must submit all new application materials each and every time you apply or re-apply.
