- Cosmetology Certificate: 1,600 clock hours
- Barber Certificate: 1,200 clock hours
- Manicurist/Pedicurist: 350 clock hours

Program Description
The Cosmetology and Barber programs at UNM Gallup offers students an opportunity to earn certification and an AAS degree and prepare the student for a career in cosmetology, barbering, and/or manicurist. The objective of the program is for graduates to be prepared to take and pass the New Mexico State Board of Barbers and Cosmetologist Exam, which will make the student eligible for entry level employment in a beauty salon or barber salon. Classes are conducted Monday through Thursday 8:00-5:00.

What about salary and benifits?
Cosmetologist can expect to make between $8.00/hour and higher with commission and retail commission
depending on motivation, experience and how many hours per week you want to work. Many companies offer health and dental benefits and opportunities to purchase stock in their companies. What does it take to be successful?
